Perjury Charges - California Penal Code 118

When someone you know has been arrested for Perjury (118 P.C.), it is essentially stating that they lied while speaking or writing while under oath. Perjury can be committed by simply signing a document knowing it makes false statements. Perjury also has to do with giving false information when signing an affidavit, a declaration, a certificate or while being deposed. The term ‘perjury’ is also known as ‘forswearing’ and is considered a serious offense which can be charged as a felony; which can have a sentence of up to five years. Other punishments for perjury are probation, fines, restitution, and community service.

Jail Release Process

When you bail someone out of jail they should be released within a few of hours, depending upon their individual circumstances. The process typically begins right after the defendant is arrested, photographed, fingerprinted and booked. You should know that if they do not make bail while in jail, they will be held until their first arraignment. Jail staff may not be able to let us know when an arrestee will be released, but once released; they will have access to a phone.

"You helped me get bailed out of jail on Friday night. I just wanted to say thank you. It was an awful experience for me, and if nothing else, your kind voice on the other end of the phone in that cell was a tremendous comfort."
