Environmental Crimes Charges – California Penal Code 14309

When someone has been arrested for an environmental crime (14309 P.C.), it can be a very serious charge. Individuals and Corporations alike can be charged if they are found to be dumping chemicals illegally, contaminating water, polluting the air, ground, etc. A partnership was developed in California to fight environmental crime. Still a relatively new concept, the punishment for environmental crime can be from 5 to 15 years in prison for violations against the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act or the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act.

Booking and Release

It can take anywhere from 2 to 6 hours to book (process, photograph and fingerprint) a defendant. Unfortunately, bail cannot be posted until the individual has been completely updated and entered into the system. Often, the smaller jails generally will not hold a detainee for very long. Instead, the individual may be transferred to a larger facility. A transfer can result in further processing, both out of a local jail and into a County Jail. After processing, the detainee may be bailed out of jail. For a much faster release, we always recommend bailing a defendant out while they are still being held in the smaller jail facility. Most bail bonds can be posted at any one of the California County jails 24 hours a day.

Starting the Bail Process

It only takes just a few minutes over the phone for our company to begin the bail bond application and approval process. To quickly receive the paperwork, you simply need a fax, or email. It’s comforting to know everything can be handled from your own home. Additionally, our on-call, bail agents can meet with you at your office, home or the jail where your loved one is being detained.

Bail Bond Fees

A bail bond in California costs 10% of the total bail amount. Bail bond fees are regulated by the California Department of Insurance. If the defendant’s bail amount is $25,000 it will cost a non-refundable fee of $2,500 to bail them out of jail. We offer flexible financing and payment plans for those who qualify and can usually do a bond without having to use any collateral. We accept all major credit cards; however we don’t accept checks at this time.
